Royal Dutch Shell Nazi Controversy

Shown right: Pre-World War 2 staff meeting of Rhenania-Ossag (Royal Dutch Shell) employees in Hamburg Curio-Haus, Nazi Germany. Management included at least one Nazi official who remained employed by Shell after the war.

Article by a former employee of Shell Oil USA

Extract: “You folks need to wake up and critically examine how RD Shell really operates. Royal Dutch Shell management is just as capable and willing to cause great mischief for the rest of the world, if it pays do so, as they were in the days of Deterding and Hitler.”

MISSED POINT

This is for Musaint, et al. (See his posting on Shell Blog)

You boys are supposedly bright folks, otherwise Shell probably would not have hired you. However, you have seemed to have somehow missed ‘the point’ of the recent revelations regarding RD Shell’s past ‘odious and questionable associations’.

You remind me of the German’s during the 1930’s. They were and are a very bright people and yet they willingly swallowed Hitler’s line of ‘bull’, just as you seem to swallow RD Shell’s line of corporate ‘bull’. I used to work for Shell, and it is indeed ‘bull’. Of course there were penalties for speaking out in Nazi Germany, as there are today within RD Shell. Do you boys get this point? read more

* Halliburton staff, MD called in after arrests last week

ABUJA, Nov 30 (Reuters) – Nigeria’s anti-corruption police said on Tuesday they wanted to interview the country heads of Shell (RDSa.L) and U.S. oil services firm Halliburton (HAL.N) as part of investigations into two separate bribery cases.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) briefly detained 10 Halliburton staff for questioning last week in relation to a $180 million bribery case involving the U.S. firm’s former unit KBR (KBR.N). [ID:nLDE6AQ0BH] read more

Shell, Gazprom to Combine Beyond Russia

By JAMES HERRON

LONDON—Royal Dutch Shell PLC and Russian gas giant OAO Gazprom signed an agreement on Tuesday that will deepen their existing partnership within Russia and see them work together outside Russia for the first time, Shell said in a statement.

The agreement promises “further development of bilateral cooperation in exploration and production of hydrocarbons in western Siberia and the far east of Russia [and] cooperation in the downstream oil products business in Russia and Europe, as well as Gazprom participation in Shell upstream projects outside of Russia,” Shell said. read more

Gazprom and Shell To Expand Cooperation – Medvedev

MOSCOW -(Dow Jones)- Russia’s state-run gas firm OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) and Royal Dutch Shell PLC(RDSA.LN) are to sign a memorandum on the expansion of their cooperation in and outside Russia, Gazprom Deputy Chief Executive Alexander Medvedev said Monday.

Gazprom’s cooperation with Shell could expand in Sakhalin, Medvedev said, without giving any more details on the memorandum.

“We are happy to invite foreign partners to develop our upstream reserves, but only if in exchange we get the access to their first class projects somewhere in the world,” Medvedev said. “We do know Shell has good assets, which could be of interest for us.” read more

Oil spill in the Philippines

Dear Mr. Donovan,

I am a resident of Bangkal village in Makati City, a working-class neighbourhood in the Philippines.

I wish to tell you that Shell and Chevron have done a great environmental damage to our ground, but have kept quiet about it all this time.

A month ago, an oil spill was discovered in our area, where a pipeline runs under it. The spill is said to have been going on unnoticed for some months. The pipeline carries Shell and Chevron products. Our government has somewhat penalized the pipeline operator, First Philippine Industrial Corp. (which is incidentally 40% owned by Shell Petroleum). But the owners of the spilled fuel have yet to own up to the mess. read more

Royal Dutch Shell and the lampshades made from HUMAN SKIN

The Sun newspaper has published an article horrifically confirming, following a DNA test, that a lampshade bought at a New Orleans car boot sale is made from human skin. A gruesome relic from Nazi crimes against humanity in the 2nd World War. As the main financier of the Nazis, does Royal Dutch Shell bear any moral (or legal) responsibility for the crimes of Hitler and his equally evil henchmen?

Extract:

We’ve all heard the stories of the Nazi human lampshades.

There have been many fakes over the years but no proven examples of a real Nazi lamp made from the skin of Jewish prisoners in concentration camps during the Second World War.

However, one crucial early scientific test set this lamp apart.

When Mark, an American, sent a small piece away for DNA testing at Bode Technology near Washington DC it came back as “100 per cent human”.

Royal Dutch Shell had no involvement in the concentration camps, but driven by greed, the company did in the crucial years prior to the 2nd World War, save the Nazi party from financial collapse and continue to pump funds into the Nazi regime in a variety of ways.
Greed and fat cat egotism won out over mere moral considerations. Shell knowingly collaborated directly with Hitler and the Nazis – the most evil regime in history. Without Shell’s financial backing, history might have unfolded without the horrors of the 2nd World War.
What transpired all those years ago obviously has no reflection on current Shell employees, the vast majority of whom are decent hard working people.
Those events do however stain forever the name of Royal Dutch Shell and the brand name by which the company is best known throughout the world: Shell.
As a result of a recent article published in the Guardian, we now know that as a consequence of Shell’s association in the death of Ken Saro Wiwi and eight other Nigerians hanged with him also on trumped up charges, Shell seriously considered changing the brand to “New Shell”. Shell settled out-of-court for $15.5 million a related claim in the U.S. courts last year alleging human rights violations and torture.
Extract from a BBC article: Shell settles Nigeria deaths case
The case alleged that Shell was complicit in murder, torture and other abuses by Nigeria’s former military government against campaigners in the oil-rich Niger Delta. Shell had propped up an evil corrupt Nigeria dictator so that it could continue its plunder and pollution in the Niger Delta.   Now the latest crop of Shell fat cats are pumping funds into another fanatical regime, this time in Iran. Once again, greed for hydrocarbon reserves is taking priority over ethical considerations. Shell is acting with typical deception to hide what is going on. Shipping movements have been disguised.   Once again Royal Dutch Shell is pumping funds into a fanatical regime intent on the extermination of the Jewish people. Iran is bent on developing nuclear weapons to destroy Israel, finishing the job that Shell’s former Nazi partners embarked upon, killing millions of Jews in the Holocaust. (see Royal Dutch Shell Iranian treachery)   The latest *Wikileaks revelations will only increase concern about those few remaining companies putting their own interests before the safety of the growing number of people living in Countries under threat of Iranian rockets, partly fueled by Shell.   The future looks dark and foreboding. What will be the consequences this time?   How long before Royal Dutch Shell decides it might be best to change its name?     ARTICLE BY ALFRED DONOVAN AND JOHN DONOVAN

Comments on Donna Getz allegations against Shell

“Those poor people are being ‘f** over ‘ by Shell twice. First from the physical damage from the breathing of the acid produced by the flaring of production gases, and now financially.”

Donna Getz allegations against Shell

UPDATED MONDAY 29 NOVEMBER 2010

Comment from “Outsider” posted on Shell Blog Sun Nov 28th, 2010 at 8:37 am

Donna Getz’ account of problems following a well test mirror an event in Drenthe in Holland when production from a sour gas (H2S) well was released during a well test during the 1980?s, causing a herd of cows in an adjacent field to drop dead. I don’t think it even made the Dutch news after the farmer and local community were reminded of the importance of Shell (NAM) to the local economy. I’m sure there are plenty of readers of this site who can provide additional information.

Comment received from a former employee of Shell USA

I read the Getz story. It sounds like the Shell well was producing large amounts of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas that is extremely poisonous. The gas would either be mixed in with natural gas, if the well was a gas well, or in solution in the oil and then liberated as gas along with other gases that come out of solution when oil is produced. The hydrogen sulfide gas it the ‘rotten egg’ gas, but you can only smell in the air very small concentrations, a few 10′ of parts per million. Richer concentrations typically don’t smell. I know, I have had direct experience with H2S at well locations. read more

Donna Getz allegations against Shell

The following information is generated from emails received from Donna Getz, who makes self explanatory allegations against Shell and other parties.

BY DONNA GETZ

Read your articles about Royal Dutch Shell.  It makes me sick what they can get away with.

I am going to tell you what happened to myself and my family.

We were caretaking a ranch near Tumbler Ridge, BC about six years ago. We were looking after their horses and ours. We never received payment for this.

Unknown to us, Shell Oil was drilling a well 3 km across country from us.

When they started to flare the well, something went wrong.  We got hurt from this. The spruce trees had golden patches on them, the leaves on the cottonwood turned upside down, the game left or died. Four of our horses died over time from this and we have one that is still wheezing from it. I have 30% lungs left, my husband and daughter 50% left.  Our truck we had at the time, rusted out on one side. read more

Drilling in offshore Alaska Arctic

From a former employee of Shell Oil USA

Latest industry estimates are that the new drilling technologies have given and will give the US about 100 years worth of gas reserves from unconventional ‘tight’ shales, sands, carbonates and hydrocarbon ‘source’ rocks. That is about 2500 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Actual proven reserves are now about 1/4 to 1/3 that amount.

What I find interesting about the gas reserve estimates for both the Chukchi and Beaufort offshore areas is that it does not exceed 25 trillion cubic feet, or about one years worth of domestic US consumption. read more

Alaska polar bears given ‘critical habitat’

25 November 2010

The US has designated a “critical habitat” for polar bears living on Alaska’s disappearing sea ice.

The area – twice the size of the United Kingdom – has been set aside to help stave off the danger of extinction, the US Fish and Wildlife Service said.

The territory includes locations where oil and gas companies want to drill.

Environmentalists hope the designation will make it more difficult for companies to get permits to operate in the region.

“This critical habitat designation enables us to work with federal partners to ensure their actions within its boundaries do not harm polar bear populations,” said Tom Strickland, assistant secretary for fish and wildlife and parks. read more

Shell Says Has Plans in Beaufort to Limit Effect on Polar Bears

By Kari Lundgren – Nov 25, 2010 2:57 PM GMT+0000

Royal Dutch Shell Plc said it has plans to limit the effect on wildlife from exploration in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas off Alaska after the U.S. designated some areas as “critical” for polar bears.

“Shell’s plans for exploring in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas analyze and mitigate any potential impacts to polar bears and other marine and terrestrial species,” the Hague-based company said today in a statement.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service yesterday designated more than 187,000 squares miles (448,000 square kilometers) of onshore barrier islands, denning areas and offshore ice as “critical habitat” for polar bears. Shell, Europe’s biggest oil company, plans drilling in the Beaufort Sea next year. read more

Iraq Says to Sign Shell, Mitsubishi Deal by January

By Kadhim Ajrash and Nayla Razzouk – Nov 25, 2010 1:33 PM GMT+0000

Iraq will sign by the end of January an agreement with Royal Dutch Shell Plc and Mitsubishi Corp. for the capture of associated gas at oil fields in the country’s south, the director-general of Iraq’s South Gas Co. said.

The agreement will be signed “either next month or the one after at the most,” once legal details are resolved, Ali Hussain Khudair said today in an interview in Basra, Iraq.

The government gave initial approval on June 29 for the creation of a joint venture with Shell and Mitsubishi to be called Basra Gas Co. The venture would be owned 51 percent by state-run South Gas, with Shell holding 44 percent and Mitsubishi the remaining 5 percent. read more

Halliburton Wins Shell Deal to Develop Majnoon, Aswat Says

By Nayla Razzouk – Nov 25, 2010 8:43 AM GMT+0000

Royal Dutch Shell Plc awarded a one- year contract to Halliburton Co. to help develop the Majnoon oilfield in southern Iraq, the Aswat al-Iraq website said.

Halliburton is due to set up operations for 15 new wells, according to an agreement signed Nov. 22, the report said.

Together with Petroliam Nasional Bhd of Malaysia, Shell won a 20-year service contract in 2009 to raise output from the Majnoon oil field to 1.8 million barrels a day, four times its current production. read more
