So disgusted with this company I live…

So disgusted with this company I live alone am nearly 80 and in the winter only had my heating on for 6 hours
A day wrapped in a blanket when heating was off and went to bed early 8pm to keep warm, only had radiators
On in the rooms I use, now they are telling me they want to increase my monthly payments for gas and electricity from £83 a month to £100 a month starting 3 months before my renewal is due saying I’m £57 in debit. Have made a complaint as I am nearly 80 and can not afford the extra. Spoke on web chat said they would pass it on to complaints. Now waiting for a response. Did have a problem with smart meter took 4 months to send an engineer who told me the new one he was putting in would make no difference as they don’t use the newer update one that any energy supplier can use. Am now trying to find another supplier
With more consideration for their customers in my position. I feel all they want is to get more money from their users. I am getting I touch with my bank to stop them taking an extra £17 a month from me before my complaint has been dealt with. I can see other users have lots of problems by their reviews I have reviewed before on trustpilot and gues what I got an immediate call from them. Please keep sending in your reviews they need to be named and shamed.

Amnesty International Report: On Trial: Shell in Nigeria: Conclusions and Recommendations

FROM PAGES 28 & 29

These cases are important for what they mean for the individuals and communities involved. They could also set important precedents on the responsibility of companies for their overseas operations, which would open the way for further litigation not only against Shell but other multinational corporations as well.

They are also placing a much-needed spotlight on Shell’s business model in Nigeria.

Nigeria’s regulation of the oil industry is undoubtedly weak and lacks independence. Government agencies responsible for industry regulation and enforcement are under-resourced, ineffective and in some cases compromised by conflicts of interest. Its own courts have failed to offer the victims of human rights abuses a meaningful avenue for seeking justice for the oil spills that have blighted the Niger Delta and the lives and livelihoods of its communities. Shell has thus avoided being held effectively to account in Nigeria. read more

Shell gambles with workers lives to undertake major maintenance at Pernis despite coronavirus

English translation of an article published today by the Dutch FT. Seems something is lost in the Google translation of the second sentence of the first paragraph (highlighted in red text)?

Shell Pernis takes more time for major maintenance

By Frank Gersdorf: 20 April 2020

The first factory that Shell Pernis is working on is under construction. Photo Bas Czerwinski for the FD

  • Major maintenance in the petrochemical industry is risky in the corona crisis, because it requires a lot of extra personnel.
  • Shell nevertheless continues the renovation plans for three factories in the Botlek.
  • Shell Pernis thinks it can work safely and is afraid that if maintenance is delayed, it will soon be can’t get the right people.

Maintenance technicians still like to smoke. They prefer to run a bitch. And that’s why Shell Pernis has come up with something to let the hundreds of employees who will be working on giving three factories a major overhaul in the next six weeks without them gathering together and thereby breaking the corona rules.

Shell has new smoking spots outside that are made of scaffolding tubes. The construction forces each smoker into their own loft. ‘It’s working. The smokers remain at a safe distance from each other and can still talk to each other, ‘says Jan van IJperen during a bicycle tour past Shell’s petrochemical installations in the Botlek. As an event manager, Van IJperen is responsible for the turnarounds, which is jargon for major maintenance. read more

Fortune: Shell becomes the largest global energy company to commit to a net-zero emissions goal by 2050

By KATHERINE DUNN: April 16, 2020 4:07 PM GMT+1

Energy giant Royal Dutch Shell said Thursday it would aim to reduce its emissions to net-zero by 2050, making it the largest global oil and gas company in the world so far to sign on to the target. It’s a commitment that will fundamentally shift the nature of its business.

The target will cover emissions from the manufacture of its products, the company said. A net-zero goal means to reduce all possible emissions, while offsetting those that can’t be cut entirely; the 2050 target coincides with guidelines under the Paris climate change accord. read more

Shell unveils plans to become net-zero carbon company by 2050

Royal Dutch Shell plans to become a net zero-carbon company by 2050 or sooner by selling more green energy to help reduce the carbon intensity of its business.

Ben van Beurden, Shell’s chief executive, said the company must focus on the long-term “even at this time of immediate challenge” caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Van Beurden told investors on Thursday that Shell would toughen its existing target to shrink the carbon intensity of its products by 50% within 30 years, to reach 65% by 2050. read more

Swati Pandey: APRIL 17, 2020

SYDNEY (Reuters) – Royal Dutch Shell said on Friday it had taken a final investment decision to develop the first phase of Australia’s biggest coal seam gas resource in Queensland state.

The project is being developed by a Shell and PetroChina joint venture called Arrow Energy. Construction will start this year and its first gas sales are expected in 2021. read more

LONDON, April 16 (Reuters) – Royal Dutch Shell on Thursday deepened its ambition to battle climate change, setting the oil and gas sector’s broadest plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.

The new climate goals put the Anglo-Dutch company – at least on paper – ahead of the most progressive of its rivals, including BP and Italy’s Eni.

In 2018, Italian prosecutors brought a criminal case over the alleged involvement of Shell, and the Italian oil multinational Eni, in a 1.3 billion US dollar bribery scheme linked to the license of OPL 245. This is the name of one of Nigeria’s most valuable offshore oil blocks.

COMMENT POSTED TO SHELL BLOG 14 APRIL 2020

Mr Gould, clearly an avid reader of this Blog, has now amended his profile on the professional networking site LinkedIn to show that he is no longer a Board member of Saudi Aramco, but is now a Board member at Occidental Petroleum. Sadly, however, like most of his BG Group counterparts he did not check his profile thoroughly enough, because it shows that he is still (May 2012 – Present) Chairman of BG Group, a defunct oil and gas company.

Dutch court opens Shell climate case to the public

By agency reporter: APRIL 14, 2020

In the Shell climate case, instigated by Friends of the Earth Netherlands along with six other organisations and more than 17000 co-plaintiffs. the Dutch court has announced four public sessions in December 2020. This decision will allow for greater public scrutiny and a potentially faster process, unlike that of the Dutch Urgenda case, where parties responded to each other mainly in writing, with a hearing following much later in the process.

The aim of the case is to force Shell to reduce its CO2 emissions as quickly as possible. Public hearings are seen as beneficial to the case, as Friends of the Earth Netherlands director Donald Pols said: “The publicity and international nature of this case could help stop Shell from getting away with telling a ‘green’ story while continuing to aggravate the climate crisis.” read more

Reuters: Shell ditches Russian Arctic oil joint project

APRIL 13, 2020 / 9.09 PM

MOSCOW, April 13 (Reuters) – International energy major Shell has decided not to complete a deal on a Russian Arctic oil joint venture, Meretoyakha Neftegaz, it was expected to enter with Gazprom Neft, because of some “external” factors.

Total resources at fields of Meretoyakha Neftegaz were valued by Gazprom Neft at 1.1 billion tonnes (over 8 billion barrels of oil).

The decision has been taken against the background of falling global investments into energy projects over weak oil and gas demand and prices amid the global economic downturn, overproduction and the spread of the coronavirus. read more

Is climate change off oil industry’s agenda?

Only a few, short months ago, one topic dominated the agenda in the oil industry: climate change.

Oil majors had battled through the price collapse of 2014-16 and, with Brent crude averaging a comfortable $US64 a barrel in 2019, all eyes were on how the huge companies would tackle the existential challenge of global warming.

Under pressure from investors, Bernard Looney, BP’s new chief executive, unveiled bold ambitions to cut its emissions to “net zero” by 2050 and rivals scrambled to compete on their green credentials. read more

A company of Liars.

There is nothing positive about this company. They are a disgusting company and utterly useless in every sense. They try to tell me I owe them almost £2,000 because their systems are so awful its systems override meter readings, they end up refunding me over, £1,100 and are now illegally blocking me from moving supplier.. They have deliberately added the same balance back on my account which suspiciously was immediately after I said I was leaving… They are completely inept and underhanded. Stay away from these lieing prats. They have had 5 previous chances to correct this and tried to tell me each time it was sorted. Don’t even consider doing business with these liars. read more
