DISCRIMINATION BY SHELL AGAINST A SENIOR SHELL SECURITY MANAGER, MR WALIED SHATER

OFFICIAL LETTER TO ROYAL DUTCH SHELL CEO BEN VAN BEURDEN AND SHELL OIL COMPANY PRESIDENT GRETCHEN WATKINS DEMANDING AN IMMEDIATE END TO ACTS OF DISCRIMINATION BY SHELL INCLUDING AGAINST A SENIOR SHELL SECURITY MANAGER, MR WALIED SHATER, A FORMER US SECRET SERVICE AGENT.

This article is related to the article we published yesterday making serious allegations against Shell global security boss James W.D. Hall.

Vicious Infighting at the top of Shell Corporate Security

All current members of Shell Corporate Security Department are British white males except one German white male.

It is alleged that there is a pattern of race and national origin discrimination within Shell’s Corporate Security Department.

Mr. Shater an Arab American former US Secret Service agent and Crockett Oaks, and African-American former FBI agent were the most senior minority members of corporate security, and both left the company claiming discrimination.

Re: Anti-Arab Discrimination Employment Practices

Dear Mr. Van Beurden,

I am writing to you on behalf of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), the country’s largest Arab-American civil rights organization. Our office has learned about overt acts of discrimination against Mr. Walied Shater, by seniör executives of Royal Dutch Shell. The concerns raised to AC are problematic, and it is our hope that immediate steps will be taken to rectify the wrongdoing and implement steps to ensure such any and all anti-Arab, and Anti-Muslim discrimination, bias, bias and slurs are eliminated from the culture of Royal Dutch Shell.

The circumstances surrounding the case of Mr. Shater räise serious concerns. If Royal Dutch Shell has interest in doing business in the Arab world it should first and foremost treat people from the region with respect and dignity. Discrimination must not be tolerated, neither should the engagement in unlawful employment practices against members of our community.

Many members of our community regularly use the services of Royal Dutch Shell, and the company has a large footprint in the Arab world. This discriminatory behavior is alarming, unacceptable and must not be tolerated. It is the duty of Royal Dutch Shell to treat all individuals equally, regardless of national origin, race and religion.

ADC is requesting that you investigate this matter further and take appropriate action to remedy the matter. Additionally, we encourage you to implement companywide bias and diversity training.

I look forward to discussing this matter further. I can be reached at the office, 202-244-2990, or on my cell at 201-280-3434

Respectfully
Samar E Khalaf
ADC National President
