My father is a Shell customer, as they took over his landline contract from The Post Office. He is 73 and classed as a vulnerable customer – wheelchair bound, with terminal cancer, currently undergoing immunotherapy. On June 21st, I contacted Shell to say his phone wasn’t working. They marked him as a welfare case and said the fault would be fixed within 24 hours. It was not. We contacted them again, they contacted us, and so it went on, but the upshot is that, on June 30th, a ‘priority case’ has been without a working phone for 10 days! My brother had to move in to ensure Dad was okay and still no-one will assume responsibility; Openreach say it’s fixed. Shell say they will contact Openreach again, but no one will actually go to the house and check until Monday – that’s 14 days for a welfare case! We pay the bill; is it too much to expect a multi-million pound company to help a vulnerable customer? Disgusting.read more

Carbon dioxide compensation? Shell again criticised for misleading advert
June 30, 2022
The Dutch advertising standards authority has again criticised an advert by oil giant Shell, following complaints by anti-fossil fuel campaigners and Greenpeace Nederland.
The company cannot claim that compensating for carbon dioxide emissions nullifies the damage to the climate caused by a car trip, the commission said on Wednesday.
Last year, the RCC ordered the term CO2-neutral be removed from the same ad. Shell complied, and replaced it with the CO2 compensation claim.read more

I didn’t ask to be a Shell Broadband customer. I signed up for Post Office broadband, but Shell bought them out and existing PO Broadband customers were forced to migrate to Shell or pay an early termination penalty. Shell customer service is hopeless, you waste huge amounts of time on the phone trying to contact these people, the broadband speed is glacially slow (and my broadband was meant to be fast but it was hopeless). I’ve just got rid of them and had to pay £157 for the privilege. Don’t even think about becoming a Shell Broadband customer, it’s not worth the time, money and stress. It’s a rip off.read more
Prolonged labor strikes at Shell’s Prelude LNG facility will disrupt shipments from it for the next two weeks, the supermajor warned this week.
“We have issued a notice to customers that cargoes will be impacted until at least mid-July due to the industrial action,” Shell said, as quoted by Reuters.
The floating LNG production facility in northwestern Australia has an annual capacity of 3.6 million tons. The news of a halt to operations adds to an already difficult situation for gas importers after Russia reduced the flow along the Nord Stream 1 pipeline by 60 percent, and an explosion took Freeport LNG out of commission for at least three months.
This latest disruption comes just three months after an outage that shut Prelude down for four months. The strike is a response to Shell’s refusal to concede to some of the demands made by the Australian Workers’ Union.read more

(Bloomberg) — The world is heading for a “turbulent period” as tightening supplies of liquefied natural gas and oil exacerbate a global energy crunch, Shell Plc Chief Executive Officer Ben van Beurden said.

Shell says Prelude LNG shipments disrupted until at least mid-July
REUTERS: Jun 28, 2022
SYDNEY/MELBOURNE — Shell Plc said on Wednesday liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments from its Prelude floating LNG facility off northwest Australia will be disrupted until at least mid-July due to work bans by unions fighting for better pay.
“We have issued a notice to customers that cargoes will be impacted until at least mid-July due to the industrial action,” a Shell spokesperson said in an emailed comment.
The loading disruption at the 3.6 million tonnes-a-year Prelude floating LNG facility comes just three months after Prelude resumed shipping LNG following a four-month shutdown due to a major power failure.
Workers on Prelude began 12 days of industrial action on June 10 over a pay dispute. They are set to vote on a new offer from Shell on July 7.read more

Dispute stops cargoes at Shell’s huge floating LNG plant
Angela Macdonald-Smith: Senior resources writer
Updated Jun 28, 2022 – 10.36pm, first published at 9.22pm
Shell’s monster floating LNG project off the north-west coast has cancelled cargoes until at least mid-July amid an escalating industrial dispute, tightening the supply of gas in the already-stretched global market.
Trade unions represented through the Offshore Alliance say Shell has threatened union negotiators with its intention to shut down the facility amid the deteriorating situation.
Australian Workers’ Union national secretary Daniel Walton described the threat as “insane” given the national gas crisis, and said the energy major was trying to bully the nation into agreeing to its “hardline” demands.
However the energy multinational insists it is union bans that are behind the likely shutdown, restricting its ability to operate the complex facility and offload cargoes. Prelude supplies LNG to the export market, not to Australian energy users.
A Shell spokeswoman said the group has notified customers that it is cancelling cargoes until at least the middle of next month due to the impact of the industrial action.
The dispute centres around a new collective agreement under negotiation between Shell and the unions, for workers that industry sources say are paid an average of $250,000-$280,000, and in some cases more through bonuses, allowances and overtime.read more
Just had my first bill after changing to fibre broadband and it should have been £32.88 per month. I didn’t get a first bill and was told I was in credit from paying in advance for my original broadband package of 2mbps with Post Office when it was migrated.
So no get billed is £196.54!!!! I ring and spend over half hour talking first to a computer then to Nazeem who says I had a call out charge added. I said yes as Openreach left cables to 5 houses disconnected after moving a telegraph pole. I was asked again if I requested a call out, well obviously as I had no phone/internet! Nazem contradicts a previous message that said if the engineer is called out for any reason there is a charge! Shell already paid me a weeks compensation for loss of service and yet I am still billed. Also no mention of how much I was in credit from my pre-change-over contract. Its like Fred Carnos Circus run by people with no idea on how to treat customers. As someone else said, another Talk Talk type company. Avoid at any price!read more

This company has the very worst customer service in the planet.I was without internet for days.I work online and couldn’t work for 3 days and a half. They never sent an engineer. I saw an Openreach vsn, and the guy was good enough to come and check my connection. It was the router. The engineer sent his notes, and Shell should have sent the router. They wouldn’t. It was not the engineer that they sent, although it was an Openreach engineer, who was the only person who knew what SERVICE is. Horrible, unhelpful, terrible company. Good riddance.read more
Absolutely atrocious customer service.I was switched by force due to Ofgem price cap and Pure Planet going bust. I couldn’t get a bill off this useless company for almost six months, despite having a smart meter. Then I got two within a short period of time totalling over £700 where normally I would pay less than half of that. They didn’t get meter readings for three and a half months and imposed a daily average calculated on my usage during the coldest months of the year. Absolute b*ll*nds!read more
Listen and read proof in audio and transcript form of Shell CEO Ben van Beurden’s cover-up tactics in the OPL 245 Nigerian corruption scandal. The instruction given by him in the covertly recorded call to CFO Simon Henry was at odds with Shell’s claimed core business principles. Cover-up and obstruction, instead of transparency and integrity, says Shell critic John Donovan
