Shell’s alleged pattern of discrimination in favour of ‘White Brits’

Court filing confirms that Shell settled a claim from Crockett Oaks III involving serious allegations against Shell and Shell Spymaster James W.D. Hall

By John Donovan

I reported in August 1917 that Mr Crockett Oaks III, Shell security manager for the Americas, received a ‘big bucks’ court case settlement from Shell.

The litigation arose from an alleged pattern of discrimination in favour of ‘White Brits’ by Shell and Shell Corporate Security VP James WD Hall, a British national.

Mr Hall is a security professional who worked in an undisclosed position purportedly in the British Foreign Office (MI6?) before his long career at Shell.

Mr Hall has faced a succession of accusers on the same race/national origin grounds starting with Crockett Oaks III.

The second case was brought by Mr Mike Oliveri, another gentleman with a military/security affairs background. Mr Oliveri is a decorated war veteran, a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Mr Hall’s current accuser is Mr Walied Shater a former US Secret Service agent.

Former FBI Special Agent Crockett Oaks III, an African American, joined Shell in 2003 and was paid over $325,000 per year as head of Shell Security Americas.

On December 6, 2016, Hall fired Crockett Oaks.

Later in December 2016, through counsel, Oaks asserted in a letter to Shell and Hall that Hall had fired him in retaliation for refusing to follow Hall’s instructions to make hiring decisions based on age. Hall admitted that Oaks’ allegations of retaliation “upset” him.

In January 2017, Crockett Oaks filed a Charge of Discrimination with the EEOC, making the same allegations. Oaks had potent emails to prove his allegations.

On March 30, 2017, Oaks filed a retaliation lawsuit against Shell. Crockett Oaks III sued Shell for a systemic pattern and practice of intended discrimination at Shell and its parent company, Royal Dutch Shell plc”.

Shell secretly settled the case.

This is what I reported in an article dated 17 August 2017 referring to the confidential settlement between Shell and Crockett Oaks.

He had the goods on Shell, which quickly settled for big bucks. The secret details, juicy quotes and revealing Shell internal emails were sealed into a confidentiality agreement. Fortunately, I have an excellent US source.

We now have irrefutable confirmation in a legal filing (see page 16) with the US courts on 29 July 2022, that Shell did indeed settle.

“On April 11, 2017, the case was resolved and dismissed by mutual agreement (Joint Motion and Order in Oaks’ Case; ROA.650). The settlement to Oaks was paid out of Hall’s department’s budget…”

There has been a trickle of claims thus far, all arising from the alleged conduct of Shell and Mr Hall. All brought by the same law firm.

Are there more in the pipeline?
