Brent Bravo Scandal

Germany Calls Crisis Meet Over Shell North Sea PlatformsSFP News:

By : 10/16/19 AT 10:34 AM

Germany said Wednesday it had called a special meeting of international partners this week to pressure Royal Dutch Shell to remove old rigs containing crude oil in the North Sea.

An environment ministry spokesman said Berlin had convened signatory countries of the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (OSPAR) on Friday in London.

“Germany finds it absolutely unacceptable that these crude oil quantities remain in these structures,” said the spokesman, Stephan Gabriel Haufe, citing a “danger for the environment”. read more

Belgium opposes Shell abandoning drilling platform foundations in the sea

Belgium, plus four other countries and the European Commission are opposed to the Shell Oil company leaving the foundations of three old drilling platforms in the North Sea, De Morgen indicated on Thursday.

Brent Bravo, Brent Charlie and Brent Delta platforms are located in the British part of the North Sea. Shell is dismantling these platforms, but the company wants to leave the foundations that are above the sea level by 24 meters.

Belgium, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Luxembourg have filed a complaint to the company. “We require certification that it will have no consequences on the environment. The company cannot currently guarantee this,” Minister in charge of the North Sea Philippe De Backer (Open VLD, Flemish liberal democrats) said. The European Commission has also expressed its concerns. read more

North Sea oil rigs set to be abandoned while still full of crude oil and chemicals

Shell requires UK government permission to leave sub-aquatic structures in place

Thousands of tonnes of hazardous waste including crude oil could be abandoned in decaying North Sea rigs by Shell with the permission of the UK government, prompting growing concerns among other European countries.

Due to the cost and difficulty of dismantling the structures, the oil giant has proposed leaving the vast concrete legs from three oil rigs standing in the waters. read more

I would be interested to know the content of the article just published by Upstream Online about the Prelude FLNG problems?

What I do know is that Prelude is still having difficulties in with the processed volumes of any of the three streams of product, LNG, LPG and condensate.

I have been monitoring the Marine Traffic web site with Prelude as the target. The offtake tankers, LNG or condensate, can be seen hanging around but at a greater distance from Prelude making it not as easy to keep track of as in previous occasions. The latest LNG tanker, Symphonic Breeze, has been nearby for nearly a week waiting for its nominated cargo. The demurrage costs must be quite high by now as the “notice of readiness” will have been tabled on arrival. read more

Shell’s Brent Bravo Platform Removed from North Sea

The Shell Brent Bravo Platform and Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit vessel featured in this article both have a controversial history. Workers died in an avoidable accident on Brent Bravo after Shell management ignored the dire warnings and revelations of a “Touch F*** All” safety culture findings arising from a safety audit. Pioneering Spirit was originally named after a Nazi SS Officer, Pieter Schelte, the father of the owner of Allseas.

Allseas: The vessel Pioneering Spirit removes the 25,000-ton Bravo platform from the Brent field in the UK North Sea.

Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit has completed its second platform topsides removal in the North Sea in the last week, as the heavy lift and pipelay vessel removed the 25,000-ton Brent Bravo topsides. Allseas said in a statement that the operation took approximately four hours, from positioning the vessel around the platform to the moment of the lift.

The Brent field started production in 1976. At its peak in 1982, the four platforms in the field were producing more than 500,000 BOPD. The field has produced approximately 3 billion boe since 1976. Shell announced its plans to decommission parts of the field in 2015. read more

The arsonist complains about the diligence of the fire brigade

RETIRED SHELL CHIEF SAFETY OFFICER: Royal Dutch Shell (RDS) has gained its reputation as an organisation with no morality that if it can get away with it will lie repeatedly even when trapped by its own evidence, by its own falsehoods. It seems based on its track record RDS has no justification to support its protestations about public authorities using whatever legitimate means they can to dig out from the corruption cesspit the truth.

Re the article on the Moerdijk explosion and the Dutch prosecutors getting to the truth don’t you think it’s a bit rich that RDS protests? In brief

*The number of accidents per man-hour worked has risen again for the first time in a long time last year.

Shells gas leaks, fires and accidents

Bert van Dijk: 13 March 2019

Last year the number of accidents per hour worked increased at the oil company. Supervisors warn that Shell needs to do more about safety.

In December 2017, during regular maintenance work, a lifeboat suddenly came loose on the Shell platform Brent Alpha in the North Sea. The lifeboat fell into the sea and was recovered a day later. Although no one is injured, it was not the first time. In 2008, it was discovered that two lifeboats on another nearby Shell platform, Brent Bravo, were technically in such poor condition that they had to be replaced. And in 2007 a rescue boat on another Shell platform broke loose and collapsed into the sea. read more

Government backs Shell over North Sea oil rigs

The UK government has endorsed plans by oil giant Shell to leave some decommissioned North Sea oil infrastructure in place.

Catherine Early:22nd February 2019

The government is supporting plans by Shell to leave leftover oil and chemicals in some of its installations in the North Sea, according to an investigation by Unearthed, Greenpeace’s investigative journalism team.

Oil and gas operators in the UK are decommissioning their infrastructure as it reaches the end of its life. This has cost companies in the sector more than £1 billion each year since 2014, according to a report by government spending watchdog the National Audit Office. read more

Germany objects to Shell’s rig disposal plan

Britain and Germany are at loggerheads over plans to let Royal Dutch Shell abandon oil platform legs in the North Sea.

The Times can reveal that last month the government endorsed the oil major’s plans to leave the concrete legs of three platforms and the steel footings of a fourth at the Brent field, about 186km northeast of Shetland.

It did so despite serious environmental and safety concerns raised by Germany, which claims that the British assessment process may be biased in favour of dumping at sea, according to documents obtained by Unearthed, the investigative unit of Greenpeace, the campaign group. read more

Shell Brent Bravo deaths caused by criminal negligence

The ugly truth behind the deaths – criminal negligence, corruption, falsification of safety records, conducted under a brutal, mentally unbalanced Asset Manager operating a Touch F*** All regime, supported by Malcolm Brinded, has been covered up by Shell for almost two decades. Shell got away with manslaughter.

John, thanks

I hope that this indisputable evidence from a governmental report will quell the abusive comments etc made about you on the website, just poison etc.

I am absolutely sure that Holliday fully understands the rottenness of the organisation he joined but is trapped like Ollila and Brandjes were trapped by the corruption disease emanating from MB. Corruption is like the Spanish Flu, it effects everyone it comes into contact with.

The significance of the HSE report cannot be overstated, the chronology is also important, this opinion of the HSE was reached on 18 November 2004 a year before the FAI and purposefully withheld from the FAI, this can no longer be disputed by anyone.

Bill

Malcolm Brinded’s responsibility for Brent Bravo deaths

Despite his sleazy record, Malcolm Brinded (above) remains President of the Energy Institute

By John Donovan

The Shell cover-up surrounding the deaths of two workers on the Shell Brent Bravo North Sea platform is coming under active scrutiny again as a result of an initiative by retired Shell *safety guru Bill Campbell. Bill is acting on behalf of the family of one of the deceased platform workers, Keith Moncrieff.

For over a decade, the truly extraordinary story about what happened was withheld from the families of the deceased and from investigating authorities by Shell and those parties over whom Shell had influence. read more
