Debbie Abbott, a 53-year-old who practically tiptoes around her gas usage, got the shock of her life when Shell handed her an energy bill almost 8,000% higher than her usual. Talk about inflation!

Debbie, who only cranks up her heating when her home turns into an igloo (14 degrees Celsius, to be precise), was used to seeing bills like £10.66 and £15.12. Absolutely appalling service. They took over my Post Office account, without my knowledge, and stopped taking any money – then they land me with a HUGE bill. Sorted that in November and I set up a Direct Debit with them expecting them to take monthly…NOPE I contacted them after 3 months to ask why they had not taken it to find they now expected me to pay another HUGE bill, in my reckoning it should have been less than £60, 3 months at £18.99 but they tell me I owed over £370!!! So I ask for an explanation…nope they took it out of my account the same day...I am still waiting for an explanation and will be looking for an alternative provider….steer clear read more

Shell has reported profits have more than doubled between July and September helped by high oil and gas prices.

The energy giant said underlying profits reached $9.5bn (£8.2bn) in the third quarter.

That compares to $4.2bn during the same period last year though it is a slowdown from the second quarter when it announced record figures.

Say no to Shell broadband

1, Waiting over a hour to talk to a customer service advisor.
2. Overcharged for a package of £47/month (from 153mbps to 304mbps; advertising with 290mbps average speed). However, the actual average download speed just 75mbps. And never fix the low speed problem. The internet will be suspended for 5 minutes between 2am to 3am.
3. Cancellation team is the worst customer service provider team in the world. Threatens me with £290 early termination fee. Bad and rude attitude. read more

DO NOT USE SHELL. We have had the worst internet connection for months now and have even had to upgrade our phone contracts just to get online. We have contacted shell several times, who have done absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. Very low internet speeds and terrible customer service provided by Shell Energy Broadband

My basic problem with Shell is that every time I call, I’m on the line for 40 – 50 minutes, most of it ‘on hold’: “Actually speaking to a human is near impossible unless you have a spare 2hrs to spend trying to get through.”

Called to renew /upgrade contract. After agreeing I recieved two emails first with confirmation of 18 month instead of 12 month. Second email telling I am coming to the end of my contract soon and info on continuing price and an offer higher then just agreed. Customer service person spoke garbled english and had no clue after 23 minutes about my new contract. Then cut me off. Absoultely useless CS. read more

Terrible customer service for Broadband Customers !!

I haven’t had my first bill yet and I spent so much time holding the line with their customer service. Never manage to have a resolution but only be passed between customer service, retention service and technical support.. not a single person has taken ownership of the issue or got anywhere close to giving me a solution. I’m dreading the thought I’m now stuck with them for over a year. What a massive mistake !!
PS Not once I’ve been given the name of the person I was talking to; this makes me very worried about the authenticity of the previous reviews praising individuals for their “great” service !! read more

I’ve waited 2 weeks to get my broadband transferred to my new address and get an engineer however the day it was scheduled nobody turned up and no internet connection, very frustrating after this long wait, how can I resolve this issue?

Terrible Broadband Provider

Terrible Broadband provider.

Not had any service for months even though paying for high speed fibre, I have been on the phone for literally hours every week only for them to keep telling me my fault has been resolved.

This morning was the 4th time I’ve taken time away from work for an engineer, to fail to turn up or even call me.

After an hour on hold this morning, they advised its not possible for me to speak to a manager, to make a complaint, or basically do anything to resolve the situation. read more

Avoid at all costs

I didn’t ask to be a Shell Broadband customer. I signed up for Post Office broadband, but Shell bought them out and existing PO Broadband customers were forced to migrate to Shell or pay an early termination penalty.  Shell customer service is hopeless, you waste huge amounts of time on the phone trying to contact these people, the broadband speed is glacially slow (and my broadband was meant to be fast but it was hopeless).  I’ve just got rid of them and had to pay £157 for the privilege. Don’t even think about becoming a Shell Broadband customer, it’s not worth the time, money and stress. It’s a rip off. read more

Was switched to shell when previous company went bust. shell by far are the worst company I have ever delt with . 2 visits to fit a smart meter. Sending me a letter saying they have to increase my direct debit to over £400 a month way UNDER my usage.as I will not pay a ridiculous amount each month I cancelled the direct debit and simply pay each month for actual energy used not a penny more not a penny left. Shell have marked my credit file a month in arrears.but not updated it for over 3 months. Customer service is awful they simply too big to care as soon as I am able to switch I will be leaving my money be better spent elsewhere read more

Very poor company, ridiculous estimated bills, avoid at all cost

Terrible company

Terrible company, poor customer relations, threatening text messages when I have upped my direct debit with them every month and make one off payments which they don’t seem to apply to my account. It is impossible to speak to a human being, you have to leave your account number and phone number on an automated line with a promise of a call back that never comes. I have done an online enquiry form disputing what I am paying and don’t even get an acknowledgement. I have so far paid them £511 this month alone yet my balance has gone up not down. This company are an absolute joke!! The sooner I can move supplier the better. I am only with them because pure planet went bust and I was automatically moved to shell. They clearly can’t cope with the new volume of customers but are more than happy to take our money! read more
