I have been with shell energy for 3 years and can honestly say it is the worst company I have ever dealt with.

After 2 years they cancelled my contract without my knowledge. I then found out that this resulted from my neighbour accidently putting my flat number which resulted in them terminating my contract. After opening a new contract I experienced a variety of different problems such as my bills being higher than what the contract states and my internet was running significantly slower. The customer service here is appalling.

With all these issues arising every couple of weeks I was constantly on the phone with customer service, every person I spoke with told me something different and I was constantly being told to speak with different departments as no one knows what they are doing. They reopened several contract for me with out my permission and when I wanted to leave the company due to all the hasses and no revolment of any of these issues, they then told me I had to pay for the full termination fee because it was a new contract. As stated above I did not agree to cancel or reopen my contract several times and i now should have been in my original contract for 9 months meaning I should only need to pay for the remaining 9 months ( it is a 18 month contract). But shell energy is insisting I pay for the full 18 month termination fee. I would highly suggest that everyone stays away from this company as they are only looking to scam and make more money read more

Very unreliable at times. Customer service absolutely terrible. I eventually left for a better provider and had a terrible time trying to get a final bill.

Many phone calls where they had told me I hadn’t returned the router (I had) and several final bills which included charge for non return of router. I asked several times for correct bill and they eventually without warning referred me to collections agency. I called the agency immediately and they had the correct amount which I paid over the telephone immediately. Avoid this company Poor Broadband and extremely poor customer service. read more

Nightmare. I only found out that the post office internet had been sold to Shell after investigating why my Internet had started to run slow and keeps dropping out all of the time. It’s been down for 5 hours again today and I am lucky that wasn’t during work. Expecting to get no help again from customer services.

very disappointed as we work from home they couldn’t sort my problem over the phone. Was clear a problem with router, asked to send a new router to sort the problem instead they said a booster would be a better option. 8 days until receive the booster that still not sorted my problem. My only option was sign up to a new broadband that actually works with better speed and took them 1 day to come here and install everything. Shame on shell and shame I still have 10 months left to pay for internet that is weak and no need anymore. don’t go for shell read more

Shell bought out the Post Office broadband in 2021 and my contract was automatically transferred to Shell. I’d been with the PO for over a decade and they were brilliant. Shell steal their market and within a few months the speed deteriorated. Over the last two months, it has has dropped to below 1Mbps. I work from home and this is simply not acceptable. I complained and they sent me a new router which made no difference. An IT expert told me that there must be a fault on the line was my speed was so bad. Shell denied this and said that I was not entitled to super fibre because I was on a ‘basic copper wire contract’ and wasn’t entitled to anything over 1MBPS. This is absolute rubbish. My contract is for superfibre. The replies to complaints are the usual meaningless drivel about how they value your feedback blah blah. Laughable. They now want me to pay extra to get the speeds that I’m legally obliged to under the contract. I have told them to shove it and am switching. Disgusting. A greedy exploitative company. What do you expect? It’s all part of the Great Rip -Off by the corporatocracy. read more

I have been without broadband for a week now. Shell finally sent me a new router on second class service even though I said it was urgent it was sorted. Customer service completely unhelpful. Shame I have to wait 7 months until I can leave them. 5 days since the router was sent and they refuse to contact Royal Mail for an update.

Shell: Gas field in Groningen must be completely closed this year, in light of earthquakes

SUNDAY, 26 MARCH 2023

The gas field in Groningen must be completely closed this year, said the CEO of Shell Netherlands, Marjan van Loon. Currently, the gas field is still supplying minimal amounts of gas to keep the wells usable, but she doesn’t think that’s necessary. “It can and must be done, so the field has to be closed,” Van Loon said on the TV program WNL Op Zondag. read more

Stay clear! I moved over from Virgin Media and had absolute terrible broadband speed from the get go. It was an absolute nightmare to get in touch with support.
First I tried the phone, just to wait ages in a holding loop to then having the line suddenly interrupted when I was finally talking with someone.
Then I tried email and nobody answered for a week. And even then it was a very slow back and forth with them not taking it serious.
Finally reached someone on the phone, just to be told it must be the WiFi router and I should reset it and connect it to another outlet. And after I’ve done that, I had to wait again for hours to talk to someone.
I then tried to cancel as it was an absolute nightmare, and they just outright rejected it. Months later after the communications ombudsman, finally someone came out and fixed it. Speed is now perfect, but too late, because I had to extend Virgin Media as the Shell line wasn’t working. read more

Shell Is Reviewing Its Plan To Reduce Oil Production This Decade

  • The CEO of Shell has said that the company’s plan to reduce oil production by up to 2% each year this decade is now under review.

  • In 2021, Shell said that its oil production had peaked in 2019 and would continue to decline over the next three decades.

  • Recent events have highlighted the fragility of the global energy system and now Shell wants to focus on ensuring energy supply.

Shell’s plan to have its oil production decline by up to 2% each year this decade is currently under review, the supermajor’s new CEO Wael Sawan told The Times in an interview published on Friday, adding that he is a firm believer of the statement “don’t deny people energy.”

Back in 2021, Shell said that its oil production peaked in 2019 and is set for a continual decline over the next three decades as it looks toward the renewables side of the business. read more

Dutch gov’t, Shell and Exxon ignored Groningen risks for years, inquiry finds

“Gas extraction in Groningen was so successful and lucrative for the Dutch government, Shell and Exxon Mobil that they hardly took any notion of the long-term risks and the ever-clearer signs of the detrimental effects for the people in Groningen…”

Dutch gov’t, Shell and Exxon ignored Groningen risks for years, inquiry finds

AMSTERDAM, Feb 24 (Reuters) – The Dutch government and energy companies Shell (SHEL.L) and Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) ignored the risks of gas production in Groningen for years, to the detriment of people living in the province, a parliamentary inquiry concluded on Friday.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte and others involved “gravely underestimated” the urgency of the problems in Groningen, said the committee set up to investigate the decades of lucrative gas extraction that caused tremors damaging thousands of houses and buildings in the region.

The massive Groningen field is operated by Shell and Exxon joint venture NAM and was one of Europe’s major suppliers of natural gas for decades.

“These are hard and painful conclusions,” Rutte told a news conference. “They make clear there is a lot to do to help the region and to hopefully restore trust.”

The government will take time provide a full response to the report, he said without indicating how long that would take.

A statement from NAM director Johan Atema said: “It is clear that we need to have a better eye for the society in which we work. It is up to us to show that we as a company have learned from this.” read more

Shell cracker plant once again issued pollution violation notice

INDUSTRY, Pa. (KDKA) – The Shell cracker plant in Beaver County has once again been issued a pollution violation notice.

This is the third time the state’s department of environmental protection has said the plant has exceeded emission limits, once again violating rolling 12-month standards in November and December.

The plant has only been operational since November.

The DEP said in November it emitted 716 tons of volatile organic compounds, 200 tons above what is allowed.  read more

Shell demands compensation after Greenpeace action on oil platform

SUNDAY, 12 FEBRUARY 2023: Reporting by ANP and NL Times

Greenpeace said it has received a claim for damages from Shell over the occupation of an oil rig by activists from the environmental organization. The oil and gas company is demanding 100,000 pounds (113,000 euros), in part because Greenpeace activists placed solar panels and a wind turbine on the floating platform. The platform is on its way to the port of the Norwegian city of Haugesund. read more

Environmental groups plan to sue Shell’s new Pennsylvania plant over emissions

8 Feb 2023

Two environmental groups announced on Feb. 2, 2023 that they plan to sue Shell Chemical Appalachia over air pollution, just about three months after the startup of operations of Shell’s 1.6-million tonnes per year facility with capacity of polyethylene production, and related ethane cracker in Pennsylvania.

The Environmental Integrity Project said in a press release that along with another environmental group named Clean Air Council it filed “a notice of intent to sue (…) for repeated violations of air pollution limits,” it said. read more

Oil giant Shell set to unveil record profits of more than £30bn

Oil giant Shell set to unveil record profits of more than £30bn as households and businesses grapple with sky-high energy bills

Oil giant Shell is set to unveil record profits of more than £30 billion as households and businesses grapple with sky-high energy bills.

The corporate giant is expected to say this week that annual profit more than doubled as the war in Ukraine restricted supplies from Russia, sending the price of gas and electricity rocketing.

The FTSE100 behemoth and its arch rival BP have faced mounting criticism for cashing in. BP chief executive Bernard Looney famously described his company as resembling a ‘cash machine’ because of the amount of money it has made from elevated prices.

But, since he made those comments in 2021 – three months before the invasion of Ukraine – the profits made by BP and Shell have continued to escalate rapidly. read more

BP and Shell could be takeover targets if Exxon and Chevron snatch opportunity for ‘industry arbitrage’ – Citi

Jamie Ashcroft: Wed 25 Jan 2023

BP PLC (LSE:BP.) and Shell PLC (LSE:SHEL, NYSE:SHEL) may find themselves at the negotiating table as American peers Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) or Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) could come calling, that’s the view of analysts at Citigroup.

A megamerger between either London-listed oil major and either of America’s largest oilers appears increasingly attractive, on valuation terms at least, according to the Wall Street bank. read more
