Will climate change send the Royal Dutch Shell share price to zero?

The Motley Fool

Rupert Hargreaves | Saturday, 14th August, 2021

Extracts:

The Royal Dutch Shell (LSE: RDSB) share price used to be a staple holding for income investors. That was until the company cut its dividend last year for the first time since the Second World War.

Volatile oil prices have always been a risk for the enterprise. In the past, the group’s size and diversification has helped it manage this uncertainty. However, I think the threat of climate change now presents an even more considerable risk for the company and one that could jeopardise its very existence. read more

Wikipedia’s Reputation in Meltdown

By John Donovan

Unfortunately, the integrity of Wikipedia is corrupted by a policy allowing the anonymous editing of articles.

This fundamental flaw allows articles to be potentially sanitized of any facts embarrassing to a featured subject e.g. an evil oil giant

Larry Sanger, the co-creator of Wikipedia, has recently expressed similar misgivings about how Wikipedia has changed for the worse in recent years. He claims that it has been ruined.

Sanger identifies “anonymous contribution” as being detrimental to the accuracy of online information, which he rightly says is open to corruption by governments, corporations, spies and criminal organisations. He goes on to say that they know how to play the Wikipedian game. Sanger is now embarrassed by Wikipedia and has become its most prominent critic. read more

If you want to keep your sanity DO NOT USE SHELL ENERGY

Content sourced from a customer review of Shell Energy published on Trustpilot 2 August 2021

THE WORST ENERGY PROVIDER I HAVE EVER…

THE WORST ENERGY PROVIDER I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH.
We advised Shell that our tenant had moved out and provided dates, meter number, meter readings, the name and address who will be responsible for the bill after the tenant moved out. We even sent pictures of the meter.

Simple you would think. Not only are we receiving debt collection letters demanding that we pay for the previous tenants bill, it turns out they had the moved the tenant to the flat next door and they are now chasing us for that too. read more

Lawyer says Shell Energy is a ‘Waste of time!!!!!’

Content sourced from a customer review of Shell Energy published on Trustpilot 31 July 2021

Don’t waste your time trying to navigate Shell’s system

Took over Shell from previous owner of my flat. This is not my primary home. Gave Shell correspondence address which it did not use and then Shell placed a note on my otherwise unblemished credit rating that I delayed paying my bill ( sent to the wrong address ) Set up direct debit.

Continue to be asked to submit meter readings because of COVID.

Cannot get Shell system to work ( online or app ) even to recognise I have an account / register the account. read more

Insanely bad customer service at Shell Energy

STAY AWAY

Don’t sign up with this lot.

For over a year and a half I have had issues with them. Now again today it has been the 5th time an engineer did not show up to replace my IHD.

It is 1 thing after another, never can get things organised and sorted properly.

Insanely bad customer service and if I may add, daily standing charges are through the roof.

Choose another supplier if you can!!!!

Shell energy broadband is the worst

Good riddance to Shell Energy Broadband

Information sourced from Trustpilot customer reviews of Shell Energy first published 2 days ago and republished here today, 30 July 2021

Shell energy broadband is the worst

Shell energy broadband is the worst. I kept receiving debt email which I complained about and initially they did not understand either why I am continuously being charged for a service I terminated before the next billing month.

Then they said about early termination fee which I contested that I was with you since July 2019 for an 18 months contract when I had left June 2021. read more

Shell’s failed blundering attempt to kill my royaldutchshell.website

Shell’s failed blundering attempt to kill my royaldutchshell.website

By John Donovan (last updated 5 Sept 2021)

Last week, a CYBERSECURITY INTELLIGENCE outfit acting for Shell issued a 5-day ultimatum on behalf of Shell to the company hosting my royaldutchshell.website.

I would not have had a clue about the ultimatum letter if the hosting company had not tipped me off about what was going on behind my back at Shell’s direction.

For 26 years, I have used the Internet as a medium to criticise and expose Shell’s unscrupulous dishonest activities, including, for example, the Shell securities fraud that ruined Shell’s reputation. read more

EMAIL ABOUT OIL SECTOR CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA SENT TO SHELL CEO MR BEN VAN BEURDEN

EMAIL ABOUT OIL SECTOR CORRUCTION IN NIGERIA SENT TO SHELL CEO MR BEN VAN BEURDEN, 25 JUNE 2021

-By Zik Gbemre

WITH THE LEVEL OF CORRUPTION STILL PERVADING THE OIL SECTOR, NIGERIAN POLITICIANS HAVE STILL NOT LEARNT THE VANITY OF MATERIAL POSSESSION – THE NEED FOR THEM TO HAVE A RETHINK, AND FOR ANTI-GRAFT AGENCIES TO TAKE ACTION

  • The mind-boggling allegation of high-profile corruption in the sale of 57 marginal fields involving the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva; Buhari’s nephew, Mamman Daura; Sarki Auwalu; Sabiu Yusuf (aka Tunde); Sarki Abba and others, should be thoroughly investigated by anti-graft agencies…
  • It is sad how many people have made that piece of paper called money, to become their masters, and they the slaves of it…
  • The sacred values like hard work, diligence, honesty and integrity that once held our society together, have all been replaced… Leaving our societies decaying daily without us even realizing it…

For as long as I can remember, the subject of high-profile corruption amongst Nigeria’s political class, is one that has continued to get worse, despite all the so-called fight against corruption by the past and present Governments. And it is one problem that has continued to deprive the majority of the Nigerian populace from having access to the dividends of democracy, and has kept the nation perpetually underdeveloped, while those in the political space have continued to feed fat to the detriment of all. read more

As Wikipedia editors are aware, my father Alfred Donovan passed away in 2013. Since there are a number of references to him in the above Wikipedia article, I provided proof in the form of a Guardian newspaper article about Shell that mentioned his death, hoping the information would be updated.

Royal Dutch Shell Group Chairman Sir Philip Watts, was forced to resign as a result of the fraudulent over-statement of claimed hydrocarbon reserves.

Sir Philip subsequently became a very rich vicar, after a payoff package from Shell worth nearly $20 million to buy his silence.

Why is the Science Museum still being contaminated by Shell’s dirty money asks George Monbiot

Taking money from fossil fuel companies today is like taking money from tobacco firms in the 1990s. The damage public institutions inflict on themselves by receiving this sponsorship exceeds any benefits. Just as their hands were once stained with nicotine, now they are stained with oil. The tobacco experience suggests that it can take many years to expunge these damn’d spots and restore their reputations.

This is the position in which the Science Museum now finds itself. It appears to have learned nothing from the reputational harm it caused itself by accepting money from the oil companies BP and Equinor. Last week it revealed that Shell was funding – wait for it – its new exhibition on climate breakdown. read more

No evidence of NAM criminal intent in Groningen gas scandal, public prosecutor says

No evidence of NAM criminal intent in Groningen gas scandal, public prosecutor says

MARCH 26, 2021

The public prosecution department said on Friday it had not found evidence that the lives of people living in parts of Groningen hit by subsidence-related earthquakes were actually at risk.

And despite an ‘intensive investigation’ there is no evidence that NAM, the company charged with extracting natural gas from under the province, had acted in a ‘deliberately criminal way’, the department said in a statement. read more
