No problems when with the Post Office but now continual problems with Shell broadband speed and its continuity. I’m supposed to receive a speed between 35 Mbs and 45 Mbs. I get as low as 11 Mbs. I complain for which one has to wait around 30 mins for someone to answer the phone. I’m told that I must give 3 possible days when an engineer needs to visit but be prepared to be charged if I’m not at home but for which there is no reciprocal arrangement if the engineer doesn’t turn up, which has happened to me. In fact the problem can be solved without an engineer’s visit and this can be undertaken remotely. Then my speed is restored to around 36 Mbs (min for me should be 35) after which it is slowly decreased until I have to complain again. It seems like I’m being robbed of the service I pay for. As it can be quickly reset I believe that it is my ISP who is throttling my speed. Broken contract – new provider here I come. read more

Just moved home and as stuck on contract decided to stay with Shell, huge mistake!!!  No Internet, no service at all. Complete shambles of a company. Avoid at all costs. DONT GO WITH SHELL – it should have zero stars. A series of looping automated online systems and a call back system that was designed to call me and instantly hang up meant it was almost impossible for me to get through to make a complaint. When I did I found out that Shell Customer Services is outsourced to a company or companies with employees in other countries who have no interest at all in Shell’s reputation or indeed providing a service to their customers. I was given a series of contradictory instructions re returning a router which I had done using the original label provided when I joined 3 years ago. I suspect that the address on the labels then has now changed – whatever I was charged for a router anyway because it supposedly failed to arrive. Four weeks had lapsed and by this time I had lost the proof of sending. To actually send that proof now would be extremely difficult since as above the looping system is designed to make it impossible to fill the boxes to enable you to submit a communication. Shell Energy Retail is to refund and compensate 11,275 UK prepayment customer accounts after they were overcharged.

Terrible customer service for Broadband Customers !!

I haven’t had my first bill yet and I spent so much time holding the line with their customer service. Never manage to have a resolution but only be passed between customer service, retention service and technical support.. not a single person has taken ownership of the issue or got anywhere close to giving me a solution. I’m dreading the thought I’m now stuck with them for over a year. What a massive mistake !!
PS Not once I’ve been given the name of the person I was talking to; this makes me very worried about the authenticity of the previous reviews praising individuals for their “great” service !! read more

NONE EXISTING Technical Support!

Our home broadband has been very temperamental recently, disconnecting no less than 20 times a day. Speed is terrible, a tiny bit more than dial up! I’ve been trying to get support with no luck, and the only reply I received was a week ago by email – that’s all. I’ll take the matter further by seeking legal advice to leave this contract before it ends. This level of customer service with such low speed is not acceptable in 2022! read more

Router is poor

The WiFi cuts out all the time and phone rarely connects to it. I emailed them 4 days ago and had no response. The online chat is always offline. I’ve been with TalkTalk and Sky and never had the issue.

simply appalling service

simply appalling service – broadband almost non-existant. Customer service even worse. Call backs promised and never materialise. Foillow up calls promised and don’t happen. Still no internet service over 2 months on. Hours spent listeneing to awful music waiting to speak to someone. No help again today after 2 hrs 50 mins on the phone. Avoid like the plague. Still take my money despite promising a refund, which like the phone calls has not appeared. deadful. Shame on you Shell. read more

Shell: putting vulnerable customers at risk

My father is a Shell customer, as they took over his landline contract from The Post Office. He is 73 and classed as a vulnerable customer – wheelchair bound, with terminal cancer, currently undergoing immunotherapy. On June 21st, I contacted Shell to say his phone wasn’t working. They marked him as a welfare case and said the fault would be fixed within 24 hours. It was not. We contacted them again, they contacted us, and so it went on, but the upshot is that, on June 30th, a ‘priority case’ has been without a working phone for 10 days! My brother had to move in to ensure Dad was okay and still no-one will assume responsibility; Openreach say it’s fixed. Shell say they will contact Openreach again, but no one will actually go to the house and check until Monday – that’s 14 days for a welfare case!
We pay the bill; is it too much to expect a multi-million pound company to help a vulnerable customer? Disgusting. read more

Avoid at all costs

I didn’t ask to be a Shell Broadband customer. I signed up for Post Office broadband, but Shell bought them out and existing PO Broadband customers were forced to migrate to Shell or pay an early termination penalty.  Shell customer service is hopeless, you waste huge amounts of time on the phone trying to contact these people, the broadband speed is glacially slow (and my broadband was meant to be fast but it was hopeless).  I’ve just got rid of them and had to pay £157 for the privilege. Don’t even think about becoming a Shell Broadband customer, it’s not worth the time, money and stress. It’s a rip off. read more

Just had my first bill after changing to fibre broadband and it should have been £32.88 per month. I didn’t get a first bill and was told I was in credit from paying in advance for my original broadband package of 2mbps with Post Office when it was migrated.
So no get billed is £196.54!!!! I ring and spend over half hour talking first to a computer then to Nazeem who says I had a call out charge added. I said yes as Openreach left cables to 5 houses disconnected after moving a telegraph pole. I was asked again if I requested a call out, well obviously as I had no phone/internet! Nazem contradicts a previous message that said if the engineer is called out for any reason there is a charge! Shell already paid me a weeks compensation for loss of service and yet I am still billed. Also no mention of how much I was in credit from my pre-change-over contract. Its like Fred Carnos Circus run by people with no idea on how to treat customers. As someone else said, another Talk Talk type company. Avoid at any price! read more

So with that in mind let’s get down to how we can all play our part to bring this company down legally. Money Money Money,  they cannot survive without money. Boycott all shell products and services, tell family and friends to do likewise. Get on to social media spread the word. Word and mouth will spread like a forest fire it just needs you to do your bit. Shareholder a perfect storm is coming, will your shares become worthless, should you even be supporting this bad company. The top brass at shell need to know what’s happening, their email address is on the internet fill their inboxes with your truthfully thoughts. The people in the UK deserve better lets get rid of this crap company from our shores. read more

This company has the very worst…

This company has the very worst customer service in the planet. I was without internet for days. I work online and couldn’t work for 3 days and a half. They never sent an engineer. I saw an Openreach vsn, and the guy was good enough to come and check my connection. It was the router. The engineer sent his notes, and Shell should have sent the router. They wouldn’t. It was not the engineer that they sent, although it was an Openreach engineer, who was the only person who knew what SERVICE is. Horrible, unhelpful, terrible company. Good riddance. read more

Useless customer service

Absolutely atrocious customer service. I was switched by force due to Ofgem price cap and Pure Planet going bust. I couldn’t get a bill off this useless company for almost six months, despite having a smart meter. Then I got two within a short period of time totalling over £700 where normally I would pay less than half of that. They didn’t get meter readings for three and a half months and imposed a daily average calculated on my usage during the coldest months of the year. Absolute b*ll*nds! read more
