If I could give their customer service a negative rating a would.

As a previous post office customer, I decided to upgrade to a full fiber package in early January 2023- I was repeatedly given different installation dates. Finally on the 21 March I was given a confirmed date for the Openreach engineer to arrive. Suffice to say nobody arrived on the agreed date. Subsequently 2 more engineer visits resulted in a line being installed-but still no internet service. As of the 24th of April(more than 3 months) they managed to achieve nothing. read more

Frustrated broadband customers face poor service and rising costs

When Annabel Miller* took up the offer of a new superfast broadband plan with local and international calls for £40 a month from Shell Energy, she thought she was on to a good deal.

Within six months, however, she had suffered an 18-day broadband outage due to the wrong router being sent to her London home, a series of incorrect bills for more than she was due to pay, and even problems with her house alarm. When she tried to complain, she says she received confusing and frustrating responses.

“It appears Shell Energy decided to use an initial tactic of not responding to complaints, then dismissing them and closing them,” she says

“I had a number of emails claiming they had been resolved and closed, despite not having received any responses. The strategy was to confuse and distort facts, and ignore my complaints,” she says.

This will have a familiar ring to it. Communications regulator Ofcom announced that the company was the most complained-about broadband and landline provider for the final three months of last year. read more

Terrible connection and even worse customer service. Router will disconnect almost every 20-30mins and can take 17 mins to load a photograph, or 9 mins to load a Google page, even while sitting next to the router. If you want to cancel, you’ll be transferred to different departments and made to explain why you’re cancelling to every one of them, just for them to pass you to someone else and explain all over again. Even if you ask them to log a complaint, they just email you saying they’ve closed your complaint, without actually speaking to you at all regarding it. If you want to pay for wifi but never actually intend on using it whatsoever, then this is perfect for you. read more

Disgusting

Disgusting. Disorganised. Impersonal service. I was ‘allocated’ Shell after Green went bust. Never again. I’ve gone back to EDF energy who, in 2 emails, set up my account in the correct way. Never again will I use this company. And don’t bother with your insincere response. I’ve got loads of emails telling me you strive for excellent customer service. All evidence to the contrary in my experience.  Regarding  your reply. I already said not to bother. I’m sick of speaking with a company who has zero regard for its customers read more

Cancelled my broadband last year and they are still requesting money. I have late payments on my account and my Experian Credit File has taken battering. Come on Shell have some respect for your customers and stop doing this. No wonder you have so many bad reviews. I want a Shell member of staff to contact me and do three things. read more

Absolutely useless! Not a brain cell between them! Keep getting told someone will call me back, which never happens, then when you call them they’re attitude is absolutely stinking! If you’re looking for a broadband provider, AVOID THESE CLOWNS!

Terrible service!!!!!!

Terrible service!!!!!!! their website doesn’t allow for inputting meter readings in Jun 2022 to Dec 2022. Then i called them and provide meter readings I’m still getting estimated bills. And then i submitted the readings online in recent months. They mentioned that they never received the accurate the meter reading in until this month, and provide inaccurate bill for over the last 10 months. read more

Signed up for their superfast package, dreadfully slow speed. Dreadful customer service, still trying to RESOLVE SLOW speed issues…

Avoid buying this broadband at all cost. Should be banned from comparison sites. I have had the broadband for 3 days, haven’t got it working yet. Rang up to cancel for free in my “14 day cooling off period” to be told this actually ended 2 days ago, the day the line was taken over by Shell. Currently trying to charge me £110 to cancel a service I’ve had for 3 days that hasn’t worked once. Only saving grace has been a couple of people on the phone who have been willing to try to find a way a round this. read more

When I agreed this contract it was for FIBER TO THE HOUSE.NO Virgin yet here but I had been very happy with it before. Hence I said it had to be right to the house. No problem sir our new ‘Fiber plus ‘ will give you that. 14 days to connect it. After several calls and issues I opened the little grey wall box outside —- NO fibre just old nasty copper! read more

A new level of awful

Phoned up to tell them a move date. It was like I’d ask them to solve the meaning of life. Got transferred 7 times and then ended up back at he original South African call centre. They do not have a clue what they’re doing. Completely and utterly hopeless.

Broadband goes down every day

Disgusting company and inept customer service

Phoned 1 week ago in regards to faulty gas meter and told new one installed 2 months away. New estimated bill is 5 times higher than highest usage on any month over last 12months. Phoned to query, transferred 6 times due to customer service not being able to transfer to relevant department. Promised an email confirming what we spoke of but nothing received and also customer service adviser refused to escalate call as she was clearly not understanding my enquiry. Customer service is poor to non-existent. I am at the end of a 12 month contract with the same problem I reported at the beginning of the contract, that means 12 months of paying for a service that was shoddy and not supported. If you are considering Shell Broadband, I recommend you look again.

Since Shell took over from the Post Office my phone and broadband are nothing but trouble.
All my contacts have told me they are unable to get in touch.
1 – Weird noise on line,
2 – it may ring out and cut off,
3 – it crackles if working at all
4 – have tried several phones but the problem continues.
5 – my tech and phone works fine when tried at friends house
6 – customers service are trying to deal with Post Office customers and Shell customers
7 – They try to make you feel as if I’m the only one complaining
8 The service is not fit for purpose
9 – For any other purchase I am entitled to a replacement or refund. I feel Shell should refund all my payments since they took over from the Post Office.
10 – Shell service is so bad there have been radio programs of people complaining.
11 – Customer service people go through the same script each time I call and tell me there will be charge from OPENREACH if an engineer has to come out. read more

Absolutely terrible company

Absolutely terrible company, overcharging, ridiculous prices, unhelpful staff, will never buy or use anything Shell related, I advise everyone else to do the same.

Download speeds of less than 6MBPS when…

Download speeds of less than 6MBPS when the package I pay for alleges 15 to 17 MBPS. When queried the allegation was that the fault lay with my internal wiring. Having attempted all Shell’s suggested tests, no improvement. Do not waste your money, they don’t care once they’ve got it!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Absolute Garbage .. Internet Kept Dropping Out etc so I changed Provider … Shell asked me to return Router or I would be charged £35 … I Then returned The Router ( at my own expense BTW ) Recorded Delivery, but Shell are Still Trying to Take £35 from me .. Emails Text messages etc .. Now They Have put a Debt Collection Agency Mil Collections onto me To Try and Get The Money .. Also have Blacklisted me on credit File . Awful Company AVOID!!!

Awful Company! I was with Shell Energy for nearly 3 years and nothing but hassle. Terrible customer service! Seem to get no reply! Ended up getting a whopping great bill (due to not resolving the issue as no one would respond to my emails or answer my questions on the phone) I am struggling to pay this bill as its quite big so went through stepchange and even through stepchange shell play up all the time. Now asking for full balance to be paid by March. Joke of a company. You will certainly not be seeing me ever again! I am now with Eon and they are great! read more

Utterly useless. Worst internet provider I have ever experienced. And I use the term provider in the loosest sense of the term, as they provide very little. Signed up to 70mbps deal which promises a minimum of 40 at any time. Here’s what I get: download on Steam or blizzard servers, on an ethernet cable connected desktop, plugged directly to the router, 1mbps download speed. Absolute peak connection speed I have seen on anything, was on the PS4 speed test, max 3.5 Mbps. You can forget gaming with shell internet. I drop out completely at least once an hour. You can barely browse the internet. Forget online auctions, you wont stay connected long enough. What they are delivering isn’t even 5% of what was promised. Utter shambles. Do not use. read more

My service with shell went live on the 1st Nov 22, a few drop outs of service occasionally, but nothing major, it did not affect streaming or kids gaming etc, so we can live with it. The 9th December was the last day of any broadband (I miss watching Netflix on a big screen) The router is just displaying the information light and nothing more, its not making any attempt to connect, so I make all the required checks, resets, switching it off etc to no avail. I get through to Shell quite easily and the tech guy seems genuinely helpful, line tests carried out etc and says open reach need to come out which will take 3 to 4 days, but nothing is confirmed until I hear from them. I explained that I felt the router was probably the issue and questioned if it would make more sense to have a new router sent out first rather than waste time and money on an engineer, he says its not possible. read more
