Dealing with their customer service is something akin to torture with endless recorded messages and options before you end up speaking to a person. They then end up transferring you from one person to another…

If I could give their customer service a negative rating a would.
As a previous post office customer, I decided to upgrade to a full fiber package in early January 2023- I was repeatedly given different installation dates. Finally on the 21 March I was given a confirmed date for the Openreach engineer to arrive. Suffice to say nobody arrived on the agreed date. Subsequently 2 more engineer visits resulted in a line being installed-but still no internet service. As of the 24th of April(more than 3 months) they managed to achieve nothing. read more

Frustrated broadband customers face poor service and rising costs

When Annabel Miller* took up the offer of a new superfast broadband plan with local and international calls for £40 a month from Shell Energy, she thought she was on to a good deal.
Within six months, however, she had suffered an 18-day broadband outage due to the wrong router being sent to her London home, a series of incorrect bills for more than she was due to pay, and even problems with her house alarm. When she tried to complain, she says she received confusing and frustrating responses.
“It appears Shell Energy decided to use an initial tactic of not responding to complaints, then dismissing them and closing them,” she says
“I had a number of emails claiming they had been resolved and closed, despite not having received any responses. The strategy was to confuse and distort facts, and ignore my complaints,” she says.
This will have a familiar ring to it. Communications regulator Ofcom announced that the company was the most complained-about broadband and landline provider for the final three months of last year. read more

Terrible connection and even worse customer service. Router will disconnect almost every 20-30mins and can take 17 mins to load a photograph, or 9 mins to load a Google page, even while sitting next to the router. If you want to cancel, you’ll be transferred to different departments and made to explain why you’re cancelling to every one of them, just for them to pass you to someone else and explain all over again. Even if you ask them to log a complaint, they just email you saying they’ve closed your complaint, without actually speaking to you at all regarding it. If you want to pay for wifi but never actually intend on using it whatsoever, then this is perfect for you. read more

Disgusting. Disorganised. Impersonal service. I was ‘allocated’ Shell after Green went bust. Never again. I’ve gone back to EDF energy who, in 2 emails, set up my account in the correct way. Never again will I use this company. And don’t bother with your insincere response. I’ve got loads of emails telling me you strive for excellent customer service. Cancelled my broadband last year and they are still requesting money. I have late payments on my account and my Experian Credit File has taken battering. Come on Shell have some respect for your customers and stop doing this. No wonder you have so many bad reviews. I want a Shell member of staff to contact me and do three things. read more

Absolutely useless! Not a brain cell between them! Keep getting told someone will call me back, which never happens, then when you call them they’re attitude is absolutely stinking! If you’re looking for a broadband provider, AVOID THESE CLOWNS!
Terrible service!!!!!!! their website doesn’t allow for inputting meter readings in Jun 2022 to Dec 2022. Then i called them and provide meter readings I’m still getting estimated bills. And then i submitted the readings online in recent months. They mentioned that they never received the accurate the meter reading in until this month, and provide inaccurate bill for over the last 10 months. read more

Avoid buying this broadband at all cost. Should be banned from comparison sites. I have had the broadband for 3 days, haven’t got it working yet. Rang up to cancel for free in my “14 day cooling off period” to be told this actually ended 2 days ago, the day the line was taken over by Shell. Currently trying to charge me £110 to cancel a service I’ve had for 3 days that hasn’t worked once. Only saving grace has been a couple of people on the phone who have been willing to try to find a way a round this. read more

Phoned up to tell them a move date. It was like I’d ask them to solve the meaning of life. Got transferred 7 times and then ended up back at he original South African call centre. They do not have a clue what they’re doing. Completely and utterly hopeless.
Broadband goes down every day, sometimes twice a day. I’ve only had it for two months and every day it goes down at different times. Don’t waste your money. read more

Phoned 1 week ago in regards to faulty gas meter and told new one installed 2 months away. New estimated bill is 5 times higher than highest usage on any month over last 12months. Phoned to query, transferred 6 times due to customer service not being able to transfer to relevant department. Promised an email confirming what we spoke of but nothing received and also customer service adviser refused to escalate call as she was clearly not understanding my enquiry. Greenpeace said it has received a claim for damages from Shell over the occupation of an oil rig by activists from the environmental organization. The oil and gas company is demanding 100,000 pounds (113,000 euros), in part because Greenpeace activists placed solar panels and a wind turbine on the floating platform. Customer service is poor to non-existent. I am at the end of a 12 month contract with the same problem I reported at the beginning of the contract, that means 12 months of paying for a service that was shoddy and not supported. If you are considering Shell Broadband, I recommend you look again.

Since Shell took over from the Post Office my phone and broadband are nothing but trouble.
All my contacts have told me they are unable to get in touch.
1 – Weird noise on line,
2 – it may ring out and cut off,
3 – it crackles if working at all
4 – have tried several phones but the problem continues.
5 – my tech and phone works fine when tried at friends house
6 – customers service are trying to deal with Post Office customers and Shell customers
7 – They try to make you feel as if I’m the only one complaining
8 The service is not fit for purpose
9 – For any other purchase I am entitled to a replacement or refund. I feel Shell should refund all my payments since they took over from the Post Office.
10 – Shell service is so bad there have been radio programs of people complaining.
11 – Customer service people go through the same script each time I call and tell me there will be charge from OPENREACH if an engineer has to come out. read more

Amsterdam, Netherlands – Shell has attempted to silence Greenpeace International’s peaceful occupation of its oil and gas platform at sea, by hitting the campaign group with an injunction late on Friday, February 3, threatening up to two years’ jail time and fines.[1]
But today, Shell’s heavy-handed legal tactics failed, as Greenpeace International successfully went ahead with plans to escalate its protest by adding two more climbers to occupy the company’s oil and gas platform – using other boats unaffected by the court order.
Protestors are demanding that the company stops expanding oil and gas production around the world, takes responsibility for fuelling the climate crisis, and pays up for the climate destruction it is causing everywhere.
At around 9am (CET) in the Channel, the Greenpeace France-chartered Merida trimaran and two small boats approached the White Marlin heavy-lift vessel, which is carrying Shell’s 34,000 tonne oil and gas platform to the North Sea. read more

Two environmental groups announced on Feb. 2, 2023 that they plan to sue Shell Chemical Appalachia over air pollution, just about three months after the startup of operations of Shell’s 1.6-million tonnes per year facility with capacity of polyethylene production, and related ethane cracker in Pennsylvania.
The Environmental Integrity Project said in a press release that along with another environmental group named Clean Air Council it filed “a notice of intent to sue (…) for repeated violations of air pollution limits,” it said. read more

Absolutely terrible company, overcharging, ridiculous prices, unhelpful staff, will never buy or use anything Shell related, I advise everyone else to do the same.
Download speeds of less than 6MBPS when the package I pay for alleges 15 to 17 MBPS. When queried the allegation was that the fault lay with my internal wiring. Having attempted all Shell’s suggested tests, no improvement. Do not waste your money, they don’t care once they’ve got it!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Two environmental groups said on Thursday they intend to sue Shell Chemical Appalachia, operator of a big new petrochemical plant in Potter Township, for its violation of federal and state air-quality standards.
The Environmental Integrity Project and the Clean Air Council gave Shell a required 60 days to respond to their notice of intent to sue on the grounds that the company violated the federal Clean Air Act, a state plan to implement it, a Pennsylvania air-quality law and the state permits under which it is allowed to emit specific quantities of some contaminants. read more
